Anyone here use Audacity?

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone else here uses Audacity (the free and open source audio recording software)? I use it primarily to record jingles and voice overs and the like. Very good and useful software in my opinion.

Do you use it? If so, what is your favorite feature of the software?

I've been prompted to start using this program.

i been using audacity a lot more now for recording the shows and it works really well for archiving shows for audio let's just say you want to upload to mixcloud or something very useful

Yes it is very handy for making Jingles and stuff. I like that it has basic sound effects you can put in. I will have to try and use those more.

actually you be surprised what features Audacity has it has much more then anyone will ever know sometimes people just use it for the Basic stuff now me since i used audacity a long time since like 2012 i know more of the in's and out's of the software there is also keyboard short cut's to cut and Paste control A does the effect or add normalization i have not figured out what the other short cut's do yet that's just the basic short cut if you want to do something easy and to the point

Yes i am, i find it make my life so much easier.

Aaron, Audacity will never have the features Audition has, Although Audacity is so much easier to use, i will give  it that.

actually i used audition i had a copy of it i find that Audacity is a good replacement for people that don't want to to pay for software that Audacity can already do and it's free And i can edit audio much quicker in Audacity then i could in Audition a snip here and there done and save that easy i don't need abit of paid software to know how good it is.

Agreed the big advantage for using Audacity is that is it open source and therefore every feature on it is free. Whereas I am sure software like Adobe Auditions is not free.

plus using audacity i get my audio work done as quickly as i can alot of the Up to date jingles that where done in October of last year where done in audacity and it was very easy to edit the quiet bits out in the jingle and boom you have a final version of a jingle and for show recordings there is very little editing that ever takes place maybe a snip here and there at the beginning and end to fit the time of the actual show but that's about it the rest stays unedited unless i pause the recording due to internet issues

I am currently in the process of considering the possibility of using this program, but only to create promos for BGRN.

I still have to download this program. I would use it to jingles for my show at some point. But that after I figure out how to use it

Yes you should get it Josh, it's super easy to use I know you can figure it out. I might make you a couple jingles myself when I get time,

i been using audacity since 2012 so i been using it a long time and i'm kind of a pro at it now i can edit and add effect's in on the fly i'm that good with it

Cool, you should make us a how to video on some of it's features sometime.

I am sure I will get it at some point. Just not right now since I am busy with other things at the moment

i will also be installing Audacity For Linux Mint here soon

So did you lose any of your files during your switch to Linux?

Nope not really in fact I still have all my files

I will still have to install this program at some point. I have been busy with other things and I will install it as soon as I can

audacity works well with my USB mixer i recorded the past 2 shows on USB and i found out the audio is much more cleaner
